Stronger support would have been a negative correlation between enhanced melanisation by microsporidian isolates and interference with malaria by the same isolate, which we did not observe.
Serotypes 27 and 57, which may be expressed by the same isolate at different times (31), were expressed by isolates assigned to the ST-45 complex (Table 3).
