It recently announced plans to lay off more employees, reducing its payroll to the expected 35,000 by March, from a peak of 153,000 three years ago.
That will mean reducing its payroll of 142,800 workers by 3.5percentt, mostly through offers of early retirement.
Mr. Loeb has also indicated that Yahoo needs to be aggressive in its cost-cutting, including reducing its payroll of 14,100.
The company said in January that it would reduce its payroll by 16percentt.
Multex.com Inc., a New York online financial services company that had been profitable for three straight quarters, said this week that its second-quarter revenues would be lower than forecast and that it planned to reduce its payroll by 15percentthroughgh eliminating jobs and cutting executives' salaries.
