Data acquisition and analysis were performed using a digitizer (DigiData 1322A, Axon Instruments) and the analysis software pClamp 9 (Axon Instruments) Origin Pro (OriginLab Co ., and MATLAB (Mathworks).
Data analysis was performed by pClamp 8.2 Clampex software (Molecular Devices).
Voltage protocols were controlled by pClamp 9.0 software via a DigiData-1322A interfAxon(Axon Instruments, USA).
Data were filtered at 2 kHz and then sampled at 50 100 kHz by pClamp 8.2 software (Axon Instruments).
Experimental protocols were controlled by pClamp 8 software through a Digidata 1322A acquisition interface (Axon) or by Signal 3 and a CED micro1401 acquisition interface (CED ltd. Cambridge, UK), Details about stimulus protocols are given in the text.
Recordings were made with an Axopatch 1D amplifier with its low pass filter set at 500 Hz, digitized at 5 kHz and acquired by pClamp 8 software (both from Axon Instruments, Foster City CA).
Stimulus pulses were generated by pClamp 10 software (Molecular Devices, Sunnyvale, CA), and the applied currents were 6 μA ± 3 with fixed stimulus duration at 0.3 ms. 30 evoked EJPs were recorded from each muscle for analysis.
Data were acquired on a Windows-based PC using Clampex (Molecular Devices) software and analysed by pCLAMP (Clampfit) 9.2 software (Molecular Devices).
Tracings were filtered at 5 kHz with an 8-pole Bessel filter, digitized at 10 kHz with a 12-bit analog-to-digital interface (Digidata 1200A operated by pCLAMP software, Axon Instruments) and stored on disk for future analysis with pCLAMP (version 5.5; Axon Instruments, Union City, CA) and MATLAB 5.0 (The MathWorks, Natick, MA) software packages.
