Briefly, CD14+ monocytes were purified from PBMC isolated on Pancoll (Pan Biotech, Aidenbach, Germany) by negative sorting using Dynabeads (Dynabeads Untouched Human Monocytes, Invitrogen, Oslo, Norway).
