In a previous study examining lysine production from starch by C. glutamicum cells expressing PgsA-anchored α-amylase, cultivation at 40°C resulted in severe growth defects that were accompanied by dramatic decreases in lysine production and starch consumption compared to those observed at 30, 34, and 37°C (Tateno et al. 2007a).
