Due to the importance of the blood sampling time with respect to the PFC and TG/FA levels, we included the blood sampling period as a continuous variable (by week of pregnancy) for tighter adjustment of model 2. Additionally, the daily inshore and deep-sea fish intake were included as potential covariates for the levels of EPA, DHA, and omega 3 FA levels (Grandjean et al. 2001).
Yet, the method is applicable to very different kinds of energy models (by adjustment of input variables, and potential influences) and is thus also flexible.
