The SQUID microscope fits in the upper part of the MSB, which is supported by an aluminum frame (Fig. 1a d, B). Figure 1a is a front view of the system, with the large front access door (Fig. 1a c, A) closed, whereas Fig. 1d is a photograph taken from the front when the front access door is removed for maintenance.
The measured surface erosion is indicated by the frame (Fig. 3b), and below is the same section shown through a Polaroid filter (Fig. 3d), which indicates alterations in the structure of the collagen fibers compared with the intact cartilage surface (Fig. 3a) and collagen structure (Fig. 3c) of the sham-operated rat.
One is a premature stop codon mutation that leads to a C-terminal truncated protein (1 254 amino acids), the other is a deletion mutation in the C-terminus further accompanied by a frame shift (Supplementary Fig. 1).
The faces were surrounded by a blue or pink square frame (Fig. 1 A), which appeared 500 ms before the face onset.
Footprints and body contours are identified based on pixel intensity thresholds defined by the user in a dedicated settings window, which can be determined in a few minutes by an experienced user with the help of a preview section or by auto-tracking for a few frames (Fig. 2a').
Frame-by-frame velocities (Fig. 7) were measured by tracking cells every 0.1 s for 6 s, within 0.28 microscopicopic fields.
These lesions resulted in the replacement of a 13 amino acid residue block near the C-terminal end of the original protein sequence by a frame-shifted 12 amino acid block (Fig. S3) without the introduction of a stop codon, while keeping the first and last amino acids in the native frame.
Participants always saw 9 pictures on the screen (see Fig. 1, Panel A, middle), and speakers were allegedly seeing the same stimuli and had to name those pictures marked by a red frame (see Fig. 1, Panel A, left).
The apparatus consisted of a bottomless opaque wooden box (50 × 53 × 30 cm) resting on a platform and attached to the mesh by a metal frame (see Fig. 1a).
Beyond the initial hits we looked at further genes, which usually are part of these clusters: Using the SPELL database we automatically determined several co-regulated candidates with the highest connectivity and included them in the network of down-regulated genes (predicted genes are highlighted by a pink frame in Fig. 2a and listed in Additional file 3).
