The parasitic protist Toxoplasma gondii consisted of one major component centered at 52% GC and a smaller component at 55% GC, whereas the Amoeba Dictiostelium discoideum showed one major component centered at 28% GC.
As shown in Fig. 2d, asymmetric O 1s peak of the sample without H2O on the surface could be coherently fitted by two Gaussian components, centered at 529.7 eV (O a) and at 531.0 eV (O b).
To analyze the C1 s spectrum of the AD-CNTs with a dose of 3 × 1016 cm−2 in details, the C1 s peak was fitted by a Gaussian function with three components centered at 284.1, 285.9 and 288.0 eV, respectively.
Indeed, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida glabrata showed GC-poor genomes, essentially consisting of DNA components centered at 38-39%, that were accompanied in the case of C. glabrata by a minor component ranging from 34%to3838% GC and also by a very minor GC-richer component in the 42-46% GC range.
This is not the case of the other spectra (related to K2Cr2O7, HNO3, NaIO4, and NaClO3), where the fit require two distinct components, represented by Lorentzian functions centered at about 1580 cm −1 and 1600 cm −1, respectively.
The variation in each cluster of co-expressed genes is represented by the centered first principal component of that cluster (Alter et al. 2000).
