The phrase "buy about" is not a grammatically correct usage. It is possible that it is being used in place of "about to buy" or "buying approximately." However, neither of these are commonly used phrases in written English. Instead, you could use the word "purchase" to indicate buying something, as in "I am about to purchase a new car" or "We are purchasing approximately ten items." A possible example using "buy about" could be: "I'm thinking of buying about $100 worth of groceries at the store."
