Compared to alligators, birds showed less dramatic, but still significant changes.
Smaller changes but still significant changes are observed in the helical regions that flank α50-59 α50-59e adjacent α46-49 loop, and in bethesubunit helicadjacentns (compare Fig. 3A and B).
These changes were primarily due to the decrease in NDUFV1 (57%, p = 0.014), NDUFV2 (47%, p = 0.003) and NDUFS1 (36%, p = 0.038) in the depressed group as compared to controls, with less pronounced, but still significant, changes in the bipolar group in NDUFV1 (57%, p = 0.001) and NDUFS1 (30%), which did not reach significance (Fig 4).
