The Pension Protection Act, all 900 pages of it, is supposed to encourage companies to adopt these plans, but the companies selling the plans don't expect a surge of businesses requesting them.
In response to the businesses' request to truncate turning lanes, to make room for more parking spots, Ms. Sadik-Khan offered a suggestion of her own: banning left turns entirely on some blocks, eliminating the need for a turning lane at all.
The company focuses on helping businesses request information from their suppliers and validate it.
The National Organization for Marriage sent a letter in May to nearly a hundred Minnesota businesses requesting they keep out of the debate over a state constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage that will appear on state ballots in November.
