[23] have shown that, even considering a conservative multiple testing burden, strategies which explicitly examine interactions often have greater power to detect associations when the underlying model includes interactions as this approach can model the true genetic effect and Evans et al. [24] have examined the power of two-stage approaches to detect epistatic interactions.
