Cells can build nucleotides in one of two ways: either by salvaging existing materials or starting completely from scratch.
Complete HA and NA amino-acid sequences were aligned with ClustalX [18] and phylogenetic trees were built using nucleotide or amino-acids alignments with MEGA version 4.1 [19] using various methods (Neighbor-Joining, Maximum Parsimony and UPGMA) with 1,000 bootstrap replicates.
