Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), also called potato bug, insect pest that attacks the leaves of potato plants.
The bagrada bug, a pest that was discovered in California in 2008, has been a particular nuisance, devouring acres of brassicas such as broccoli, kale and Brussels sprouts.
Insects hosted by the species include the pale cotton stainer bug, a pest of cotton crops, and the kurrajong leaf roller caterpillar that chews on the foliage and rolls individual leaves, which it then pupates within.
