Iran's English-language satellite broadcaster, Press TV, said Heshmatollah Attarzadeh-Nyaki, described as a commercial attaché, had returned to Iran.

Iran's state-run English-language broadcaster Press TV quoted an "audio message obtained by Iran's intelligence sources" as saying that Mr. Amiri had been offered $10 million "to appear on CNN and announce that he had willingly defected to the United States".

Mr. Mottaki "raised questions about the United States military dictatorship in the region," the English-language broadcaster Press TV said on Tuesday, and accused Washington of practicing "modern deceit," using "fake words" to disguise its intentions in the Persian Gulf area.
