We are making the biggest investment in roads since the 1970s and the biggest in rail since Victorian times, connecting 40,000 premises to superfast broadband every week, and starting an energy revolution with the first new nuclear plant in a generation, the world's first green investment bank and the largest production of offshore wind on the planet.
The deal would still, however, hand control of 36% of the US's broadband service to one company.
Some of the £30m is expected to come from an underspend on the £250m set aside to roll out superfast broadband across the country.

The US technology companies have similar interests in drones, with Facebook's internet.org initiative working to connect the next billion people to the internet through free or subsidised mobile broadband.

Viewers finding themselves paying more should consider switching and bundling their services – buying broadband, telephony and TV together – to save money and simplify bills.
