An initial list of broad themes for research was provided based on the toolkit for CPC [ 26] (Fig. 1).
Third, identified codes reflecting similar concepts were classified under broad themes for better understanding and description of findings.
CAAST-Net maps African research issues of mutual interest for Europe, seeks a consensual approach from participants, and addresses broad themes for subsequent elaboration.
Consensus was readily achieved in discussion, resulting in a final list of 13 broad themes, for example, drug therapies for symptoms, non-drug therapies for symptoms, disease modifying therapies, and pain and other symptoms (Table 7).
However, there appears to be no substitute for investigator-initiated processes for setting priorities, as stakeholders can rarely identify anything more than broad themes for which more research is needed.
After initial review of the data, codes were organized into three broad themes for classifying physicians' experiences with quality improvement: perceived benefits of measurement and practice improvement, facilitators, and barriers to quality improvement.
A consideration of the findings suggests five broad themes for further research: 1) processes of constructing body narratives; 2) encounters with purposive rational systems; 3) encounters with traditional medicine; 4) encounters with contemporary informal medicine; and 5) religion and healthcare.
Two broad themes for attending ANC emerged from our data; reassurance and protection (Table 2).> Almost all of the 59 women interviewed reported that their primary reason for attending the ANC was to be reassured about the health of their fetus.
A number of broad themes for the analysis were pre-defined based on formative questions relevant to the design of a health information and services delivery system for young people in this area, namely: what services are currently available and what are any barriers to or facilitators of, their provision, experienced by healthcare workers.
