I've actually been told by close friends to not bring up certain topics in certain environments, for fear one Sambuca shot too many will send me spiralling into a squabble so ferocious I'll end the night walking home alone, wondering what went wrong.
They will naturally bring up certain topics that are relevant to their profession that you may be unaware of if you had not spoken with them.

Rules can include not bringing up certain topics, your parents not interfering with your parenting of their grandchildren or your parents no longer believing they can still dictate your life.
