The entire region, along with the United States, is waiting to see which of Mr. Abe's political personalities emerges most forcefully — the conservative, nationalistic politician with a provocative streak when it comes to China, or the pragmatic statesman who would pull himself and his party back from the fire-breathing campaign rhetoric of recent weeks.
Mr. Pozycki, a man who lives and breathes campaign finance, says the "sick calculus" of sweetheart contracts costs taxpayers tens of millions of dollars each year.
Also on the agenda are Spies Out of Our Lives, looking at the increasing incidence of surveillance and eavesdropping, and the We Can't Breathe campaign, raising concerns about deaths at the hands of police and security staff.

Kendall Fells, national director of the Fight for 15 movement, said that the inclusion of such a broad array of low-wage workers and the overlap with the "I Can't Breathe" campaign emphasizes how pressing all these issues are.
The Shell Foundation's aforementioned Room to Breathe campaign concluded that "94% of households said buying a stove was a joint decision between man and wife, which means social marketing must reach both audiences".
Gary Coombe, vice president of global air care for Procter & Gamble, said that for this, Febreze's first Olympic sponsorship, it "wanted to remain true to the elements of the Breathe Happy campaign that had worked so well".
With their Breathe Again campaign, Xiao Zhu seeks to highlight this with their high-flying infants (along with, presumably, their brand of air filters).
