An asterisk next to cluster A indicates that it is a parental cluster of cluster B, i.e. cluster B is fully contained in cluster A. Our search predicts both previously established (top) and novel evolutionary links (bottom) between Plasmodium variant gene families.
Thus, we renamed the 136 protein sequences which we have identified through an overall search of the complete genome sequence from ZmWRKY1 to ZmWRKY119 based on the exact position of their corresponding genes on chromosomes 1 10 and from top to bottom, while the variant proteins produced from the same locus are recognized by the same name added 1, 2 or 3 behind (Supplementary Table S2).
The top and bottom rows show variants of EmrE and nEmrE respectively.
The top component of the point estimate corresponds to wild-type control and variants with no impact on TA, and the bottom component corresponds to variants, such as the M1775R negative control, with impaired TA.
Compared to traditional isolation/bottom-up approaches, the high sensitivity of our top-down method translates into significantly lower sample requirements for characterization (10 μg per analysis for top-down compared to 2 mg for bottom-up, assuming a variant of ∼1 % abundance).
This is clearly seen in Figure 3, which shows a comparison of two variants of the bottom hole pressure behavior, other conditions being identical: in the first variant, the pressure changes significantly at all points of the reservoir; in the second variant, these changes occur only in a narrow zone near the well even at large values of the dimensionless time t.

The SNPs at the bottom right corner are old variants with relatively low DAF ("slow-running" SNP).
The majority of complex disease variants were annotated by the bottom fifteen consequences categories, suggesting milder functional effect of complex disease variants compared to other three types of disease variants.
We found that using a minimum of 5 or more variant calls as a bottom threshold largely eliminated the noise.
