The effect of nucleosome protection was not observed for both sample types (ρ = −0.166, p = 0.647).
The similar excited carrier diffusion lengths in the two samples are not surprising for two main reasons: first, both sample types show similar short-circuit current (Supplementary Fig. 3, EBIC is done at short-circuit condition).
A total of 74 volatiles of different functionality were identified; esters and aliphatic alcohols were the predominant classes in both sample types.
For the Amplicor assay, stringent diagnostic criteria were previously formulated for the local population, and a comparison reported the CAP/CTM's sensitivity at 99.7% and specificity at 100% for both sample types compared to these Amplicor criteria.
Quantification curves of both sample types were equivalent, with a detection level as low as 1.6 V. aestuarianus cells in the PCR reaction tube, corresponding to 1.6 · 102 cells ml− 1 and 1.6 · 102 cells mg− 1 in seawater and entire oyster samples, respectively, taking into account the dilution factor used for appropriate template DNA preparation.
For AmSesTPS1, both sample types showed similar patterns in expression after wounding (Fig. 5a).
Sections from both sample types were cut using a diamond knife (Diatome) at a thickness between 200 and 300 nm.
Non-linear I-V characteristics, showing an asymmetric rectification typical of Schottky contact between ZnO and gold, were obtained for both sample types.
Spectral responses between the human tissue and bovine tissue was similar, which allowed a similar imaging and unmixing strategy to be used for both sample types, (Fig. 2).
These observations are in excellent agreement with the results of the electrical measurements shown in Figures 1 and 2. From the inset in Figure 2, it is clear that within 1 day after surface modification, the sheet resistances of both sample types reach a similar value of around 3 × 107 ohms/square.
Total RNA was extracted from both sample types using the mirVana™ miRNA isolation kit (Ambion) per the manufacturer's protocol.
