The minor allele frequency (MAF) for these SNPs ranged from 0 to 0.5 in both populations, with an average of 0.21 in POP-HRC and 0.23 in POP-BYB and the heterozygosity ranged from 0 to 13.49% in POP-HRC (average 2.38%) and from 0 to 4.79% in POP-BYB (average 0.92%) (Table 2).
This explanation cannot be applied to our results, given that our study included, in both years of study, both populations with only a few individuals and populations with about 100, 000 individuals (Table 1).
While the similarity in introgression frequencies between Florida and Panama may be due to ongoing gene flow, we consider this unlikely given the distance and genetic structure of both populations with Belize, an intermediate population.
