Q. robur and Q. petraea have also been shown to represent separate species using both morphological data [74] and molecular markers [24], [71]; however, until now, no single marker has been identified that can differentiate between them at the individual tree level.
The tree in Figure 3 is also consistent with earlier phylogenetic studies of the genus Populus and the Salicaceae family using both morphological data [ 18] or cpDNA and ITS data [ 19, 20].
However, using both morphological data analyzed by Turner (1993) and archaeological evidence for early settlements in Siberia (Vasil'ev 1993) and New Guinea (Brown et al. 1992; Swisher et al. 1996), they retain the upper boundary of 60,000 years for a bottleneck event leading to the entrance of modern humans into eastern Asia through a southern route.
Our study has three objectives: (i) to match taxonomic sampling in morphological data to the molecular analyses; (ii) to control for methodological sources of incongruence by estimating phylogenies using models of character evolution with both molecular and morphological data; and (iii) to analyze the biological drivers of phylogenetic conflict across multiple data sets.
The morphological data and the combined matrix of DNA plus morphological data were analyzed with MP and BI methods.
With the highest proportion of annotated genes, two complete genomes (Oryza and Arabidopsis) and robust monophyly based on both molecular and morphological data (Loconte and Stevenson 1990; Chase et al. 1993; Schmidt and Schneider-Poetsch 2002; Doyle 2006; Mathews 2009), the angiosperms in our matrix provide an ideal platform for identifying genes of evolutionary interest node.
I apply a number of corrections to both the sequence- and morphological data sets; and using both maximum parsimony (MP) and a Bayesian algorithm, I investigate the support of these data for the aforementioned hypotheses on mammalian interrelationships and the placental root.

Vespertilionid phylogeny, unfortunately, has been rather intractable to both morphological and molecular data and is a well-known problem within the phylogenetic community (Stadelmann et al. 2007; Lack and Van Den Bussche 2010).
