By using dFISH, we detected Fir1 mRNA with zeta class marker zfp-1 and sigma class marker soxP-2 and found that 23.07% of Fir1+ cells expressed soxP-2 mRNA and 52.17% of Fir1+ cells expressed zfp-1 mRNA, suggesting that Fir1 may play a role in both cell types during regeneration (Fig. 3D and 3E).
