Figures1a 2 show 3D AFM scans taken at different positions, starting in the exact middle of the patterned field (Figure1a) and approaching the border of the field (Figure2a,b,c,d,e,f,g).
For lower coverage (Figure5a), the islands align in a zigzag structure in between the pits, while for higher coverage, i.e., closer to the border of the field, the extra Ge transforms the islands into bigger transition domes and domes that align in a straight manner.
