Recent reports have suggested that tumour cell immunodetection in bone marrow of small-cell lung cancer patients is by far more frequent than found cytohistologically and may have clinical relevance.
It looked like a prehistoric weapon, or the hardened bone marrow of a small mammal.
After 3 weeks of infection, bone marrow of all studied bones –including small bones of the hind and fore paws, tibia, femur, ileum, sacrum, vertebral bodies and processes – were examined for Brucella (Fig. 4).
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) with β-gal antibody also revealed decreased β-gal expressions in the small intestine and bone marrow of the PMZU mice, whereas IHC of Ki67 remained the same between the PMZU and PZU mice.

Bone marrow contains a small population of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that are capable of giving rise to bone, cartilage, fat, or fibrous connective tissue [ 8]. Cell populations with properties characteristic of bone marrow MSC have been isolated from many other tissues such as adult peripheral blood, dental pulp, adipose tissue, fetal cord blood, and liver.
We now report a severe systemic reaction to SSZ in a 21-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis characterized by granulomatous infiltration of the bone marrow, colon and small bowel as well as cholestatic hepatitis and seizures.
Diagnostic criteria for WM are IgM monoclonal gammopathy of any concentration, bone marrow infiltration by small lymphocytes showing plasmacytoid or plasma cell differentiation, intertrabecular pattern of bone marrow infiltration, and surface IgM+, CD5±, CD10−, CD19+, CD20+, CD22+, CD23−, CD25+, CD27+, FMC7+, CD103−, and CD138− immunophenotype [ 2].
Similarly, a longitudinal study of BM-DTCs is impractical because of limited access to bone marrow aspirates and the small number of DTCs that can be enriched from aspirates of standard volume.
