The cracking of previously bonded interfaces can be tracked graphically over the range of operation.

In general, the coating and substrate may be imperfectly bonded to each other, and the their interface can be described by models of imperfect interfaces subjected to the dislocation-like, force-like, spring-like, and frictionlessly interfacial conditions.
The interface SRE, which origins from C 2υ symmetry of a (001) zinc-blende interface, can be introduced by special interface chemical bonds, segregation effect and the anisotropic interface structures [2, 3, 6].
It is found that even in the absence of TGO growth rate effects, the delamination lifetime of TBC systems with weak TGO/bond coat interfaces can be more than doubled by replacing 10 20% of the ceramic TBC layer with a metal whose ambient temperature yield stress is in the ∼100 200 MPa range.
Consequently, an almost fully-dense NiCrMo coating with excellent interface bonding can be obtained by plasma spraying of this ultra-high temperature Mo-clad-NiCr particle.
