Logging intensities are more difficult to obtain with remote sensing methods: a way to overcome this problem is to use region-wide statistics on commercialized wood that are generally quite robust because wood boles from either legal or illegal logging eventually need authorizations to be transported and commercialized.
PCR products of the expected size were amplified from 50 tick pools from Bole and 37 from Tacheng.
Remarkably, the sequences (Anaplasma sp.BL102-7 sp.BL102-7 sp.BL099-6, Anaplasmaasp.BL099-6 sp.BL099-6d from H. andAnaplasmacksp.BL11Bole werecoveredent from any known Anaplasma bacteria (percentage similarity > 1.6% for rrs, > 43.6% for gltA, and > 23.2% for groEL).
These were Woreda 7 HC from Addis Ketema sub-city, Saris HC from AkakiKality, Kebena HC from Arada, Bole 17 HC from Bole, Shiromeda HC from Gulele, Tekelehymanot HC from Lideta, Meshualekiya HC from Kirkos, Woreda 9 HC from KolfeKeraniyo, Woreda 9 HC from Nifas Silk Lafto and Entoto 1 HC from Yeka sub-city.
Remarkably, the sequences (Ehrlichia sp. BL116-7 and Ehrlichia sp. BL116-8) recovered from ticks from Bole were quite distinct from any known Ehrlichia spp. Thus, our data suggest that there are novel clades of Ehrlichia in Xinjiang ticks.
A total of 388 tick pools (1862 ticks) were investigated in this study, 314 of which were from Bole and 74 from Tacheng.
The discs, approximately 5 cm thick, were removed from the butt end of the bole, and from the top of each log, and processed for green weight and green volume, to derive a measure of wood density using the Archimedean immersion method.

In the rrs and groEL trees the bacterial sequences (Anaplasma sp. BL126-13 Anaplasmaasp. sp. TC250-2) inentified in H. asiaticum ticks from Bole and D. nuttalli ticks from Tacheng clustered together and showed a close relationship with the species A. bovis, which is predominantly vectored by Amblyomma spp., Rhipicephalus spp., and Hyalomma spp. [ 9].
