This study is designed to address the gap in the evidence base for optimal weight management interventions in obese adolescents in a clinical setting and to examine effect of macronutrient manipulation on body composition and cardiovascular risk markers in adolescents presenting for weight management.
It is the next step in understanding the effect of alteration in dietary macronutrients and their role in body composition and metabolic profile.
Since calories accounted for by different nutrients have been shown to differentially affect body composition and glucose metabolism (25, 26), we performed additional analyses exploring associations between dietary macronutrient densities (fats, carbohydrates, and proteins) and rates of change in metabolic traits.
Analysis of body composition Body composition and body weight were measured weekly.
Body weight, body composition, and motor function were measured.
Depending on the study these included sex, age or Tanner stage, a baseline measure of body composition, energy intake and macronutrients or fiber intake, socioeconomic status, smoking and physical activity or inactivity.

To identify the outcome of body composition, TEE, and energy intake, the following keywords connected with the Boolean operator "OR" were searched: body composition, fat mass, fat-mass, fat free mass, fat-free mass, body fat, metabolic rate, energy expenditure, dietary intake, food intake, energy intake, food consumption, and macronutrient*.
Body composition, fitness status and intake of certain micro- and macronutrients are associated with circulating concentrations of immunoreactive IGF-I.
Our data do not support an association between macronutrient intake and body composition or brain volume.
