SANTIAGO, 6 June 2005 - José Luis Machinea, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present a report by United Nations bodies, agencies and programmes in the region, analyzing the status of the Millennium Development Goals in Latin America and the Caribbean, on Friday 10 June at 10 am.
How much we can do to help will depend on whether Russia has a clear strategy for distribution and accountability, and whether we get incontrovertible assurances exempting any food we provide from customs and taxes.We can also intensify exchanges, co-operation with non-government bodies, and other programmes designed to broaden support in Russia for an open society and the rule of law.
But which green bodies, government funding and programmes should be spared the axe?
Facilitating bodies and their partnership programmes are usually regularly evaluated against the objectives set with the donor for the overall programme of work.
