A spokesperson for Google told the BBC: "We thought you were pulling the udder one when we herd the moos, but it's clear that our automatic face-blurring technology has been a little overzealous.
"Whether you want to share sensitive protest footage without exposing the faces of the activists involved, or share the winning point in your 8-year-old's basketball game without broadcasting the children's faces to the world," the company said in a blog post, "our face blurring technology is a first step towards providing visual anonymity for video on YouTube".
Other features include anti-blur technology, 8-megapixels with an ISO rating up to 1250 and a 2.5-inch LCD.
Google says it is trialling a face blurring technology.
In addition, blurring technology should be considered to reduce the intrusion on detainee privacy.
