From the selected regions, 1000 μm tissue cores were mounted into tissue microarray blocks using a custom made instrument (Beecher Instruments, Silver Spring, MD, USA).
Acetabular components were inserted into the reamed test blocks using a custom introducing assembly, which provided a uniformly distributed load to each acetabular component through the original manufacturer's component-to-inserter locking mechanism (Fig. 1).
Histologically representative tumor regions were selected by a neuropathologist (HH) and the samples from these areas were applicated in tissue microarray blocks using a custom-built instrument (Beecher Instruments, Silver Spring, MD, USA).
Tissue cylinders with a diameter of 2 mm were punched from corresponding areas in the donor tumor block and brought into 2 4 individual recipient paraffin blocks (tissue array blocks), using a custom-made manual Tissue Array Instrument (Beecher Instruments, Silver Spring, MD, USA).

Tissue cylinders of diameter 0.6 mm were punched out from the selected areas for each corresponding paraffin block and mounted into a recipient block using a custom-made precision instrument (Beecher Instruments, Silver Spring, MD, USA).
