The difference observed for hypoglycemia was mainly due to the use of a sulfonylurea as a comparator agent in 2 studies of up to 2 years in duration [ 11, 23, 24], as well as a study in which patients were switched from placebo to a sulfonylurea during a double-blind continuation period (P020 in Table 1).
