Since miRNA precursors have distinctive secondary structures, many bioinformatics programs have been developed to predict new miRNAs based on sequencing of a sRNA in a library and inspection of the genome sequence containing this sequence for putative miRNA precursors [ 40- 42].
Circumstances are favorable for computer scientists to participate in and support bioinformatics programs (LeBlanc and Dyer, 2004), and many interdisciplinary programs have been established at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Goode and Trajkovski, 2007; Hemminger et al., 2005).
Bioinformatics is a dynamic research area in which a large number of algorithms and programs have been developed rapidly and independently without much consideration so far of the need for standardization.
The success of this NGS bioinformatics training program has been the result of the Australian bioinformatics community and Australian research organizations unifying to address the lack of training opportunities in Australia and importantly, the receptiveness, openness and ongoing mentoring provided by the EMBL-EBI training team in the UK.

Several bioinformatics programs (pipelines) have been developed for automatic SNP mining, using different input data, computational algorithms, quality evaluation strategies, and/or output formats.
Bioinformatic tools have been designed to identify these SDPs.
Various problems presented in bioinformatics have been formulated as mathematical programming problems, where the objective function is minimized or maximized under some constraints.
