Tramadol is able to bind to the mu receptor, as well as generating serotonin reuptake inhibition and enhancing serotonin release, whereas tramadol preferentially inhibits noradrenaline reuptake [ 10].
The mu subunit binds to the cytoplasmic side of cargo molecules through recognition of specific signals and is incorporated into the mature clathrin-coated vesicle (22), suggesting that AP2-mu variants may influence drug resistance by modulating cargo trafficking (8).
Specifically, cyclosporine binds to the cyclophillin receptor.
However, BIIE0246 is a large molecule (MW ≍900) and binds to mu and kappa opioid and α1A adrenergic receptors with submicromolar affinities, as well as to several other receptors with low micromolar affinities.
