Interestingly, the affinity of CD4 binding site mAb b12 for E275C is almost the same as that for WT gp120.
The epitopes of site 2-directed mAbs (e.g., 1245) are somewhat accessible in the tile-like model (Supplementary Fig. 11), but the fact that site 2 mAbs are less potent inhibitors than site 1 mAbs further argues against this arrangement of Pfs25 on the ookinetes surface.
