First, we made a list of high-quality PWMs for factors of known importance in mesoderm development, using sequences from PWMs, using the Flyreg database of DNAse I footprints [32], binding sequences found in recent bacteria-one-hybrid system (B1H) studies [33], [43], and weight matrices from the literature.
