A key residue in binding of polyunsaturated fatty acids and other hydrophobic molecules to IKCa1 is Val-275, equivalent to Ile-100 in KcsA, and the corresponding residue in Kv1.1, Val-505, has also been shown to be important in fatty acid binding.
