Since infralimbic PFC M1 receptors can mediate anxiety responses (Wall et al, 2001), increased M1 binding in this cortical area in post-pubertal NVH lesioned rats (Laplante et al, 2004a) may result in increased ACh-mediated signaling in the PFC leading to activated visceral/autonomic functions in these animals.
In addition, in an autoradiographic study of the postmortem human brain, [125I]β-CIT binding in the thalamus, hypothalamus, and midbrain, with the exception of the substantia nigra, could be completely displaced by addition of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor citalopram, indicating that binding in these areas is almost exclusive to SERT and not to dopamine transporters [28].
However, it is clear that C4BP binding in these areas is not dependent on its ligands complement C4b and C3b since they are absent from these areas.
The deletions could be false positive calls or could be due to off-target mutations in the samples which prevent probes from binding in these areas.
