You can see that the "after" trajectory is completely different from the first, as the changes appear on both a morphological wave level (bigger amplitude, typical aspect) and rhythm level (higher frequency, chaotic aspect).
An effect of congruency was detected in the sighted group for the P300 window in the lateral analysis (F 1,6) = 6.83, 0.04; F(1,6) = 3.06, p = 0.1) i.e. bigger amplitude for incongruent than for congruent trial.
Under basal conditions, i.e., before cocaine application in slices, NAc MSNs from master mice showed lower frequency and smaller EPSC amplitude in the shell, but significantly higher frequency and bigger amplitude in the core.
Consistent with this picture, our model yields a stronger response (i.e., oscillations with a bigger amplitude and larger average p53 level) when we apply a hypoxic stress when compared to other stresses with similar fold-changes in parameter values (see Figure 2A).
In accordance with the literature (Wolpaw and Penry, 1975; Connolly, 1985, 1993; Cacace et al., 1988; Tonnquist-Uhlen, 1996; Tonnquist-Uhlen et al., 2003) a shorter latency for the Ta peak and a trend for a bigger amplitude for the Tb peak at the side contralateral to the ear of stimulation compared to the ipsilateral side were found in typically developing children.

While transmitted from down-hole to the surface, the combined signal is inevitably contaminated by various kinds of noise, which may have much bigger amplitudes or much higher frequencies than that of the encoded signal, so the received signal should be processed to pick out useful components.
After an electrode×category analysis of all ERPs (see Methods S2), the vertex site was selected based on bigger amplitudes and differences between categories.
If a P300 modulation with bigger amplitudes in congruent trials should be found for the sighted group this would have appeared in at least some posterior sites, which was not the case.
Between-group analyses for separate categories showed a significant main effect for Spider pictures only (F (1, 43) = 10.9, p = .002) indicating that phobic participants showed significantly bigger amplitudes in response to Spider pictures than controls (see Fig. 1).
If the shorter latency and bigger amplitudes 'merely' reflect the wider range of frequency channels activated by the complex tone, one would not see a similar change in response to a temporally more complex tone.
Similarly, the bigger amplitudes of Ta and Tb and the shorter latency of Tb in response to the complex tone in the current study might be a reflection of either the activation of additional cell networks responsive to higher frequencies or the synchronous activation of additional cell networks involved in more advanced stimulus processing, or a combination of the two.
