Consumers worried about potentially harmful chemicals contaminating their food and beverages are driving the rising popularity of reusable glass containers.

"It is not coffee," Sen explained on Friday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, as he imitated the casual, one-armed drinking style of Americans imbibing their favorite caffeinated hot beverage while reading, working, driving or talking.
In recent Super Bowls, Anheuser-Busch also ran commercials for smaller brands like Budweiser Select, Michelob Amber Bock and Michelob Ultra Amber; spots called "Here's to beer," which celebrated beer as an alternative to other alcoholic beverages; and commercials that encouraged driving responsibly.
"Water is the engine driving growth at beverage companies," says Steven Dixon, manager of the Global Beverage Fund, a $27 million (assets) fund run by Arnhold & S. Bleichroeder Advisers.

WHILE there may not be sufficient data to indicate whether the economy is driving people to drink, major marketers of alcoholic beverages are maintaining or even stepping up campaigns to encourage drinking in moderation.
Energy drinks, including brands such as Red Bull - and trends such as Jet Tea - are driving the new age beverage growth, and have increased 50-fold in the past three years.
"We are also encouraged by Starbucks' plans to increase the productivity of stores in another way: by driving evening sales through offering alcoholic beverages and an enhanced food menu," he said.
