Strictly speaking, there is no interaction between the perceptual and the response model, because the former is an attribute of the subject and the latter pertains to the (post hoc) analysis of behavioural data.
To find the relationship between additional volume increment (obtained from the response model) and additional diameter increment (required in simulation and optimization) the growth of several pine and spruce stands growing on different sites was simulated using individual-tree models (Pukkala et al. 2013).
The final comparison was between the response gain model and the additive model, and it is shown in Figure 5 C. The additive model gave significantly better fits to the data than the response gain model (P = 0.03, rank sum test).
Since polymerization reactions are highly non-linear, using linear models may cause significant difference between the response of the model and of the real plant and this can cause problems e.g. in predictive control.
In the Samejima's graded response models, boundaries between the consecutive response categories are probabilistically modeled using the two-parameter logistic (2PL) models, which can be subtracted to obtain probabilistic models of individual response categories [ 35].

The control response model reproduced the oscillation between active and quiescent episodes with the appropriate time courses (Figure 5).

Marginal models are often fitted using the GEE methodology, whereby the relationship between the response and covariates is modeled separately from the correlation between repeated measurements on the same individual [ 2].
