It may also be suggested that our lesion, which caused damage within the midline thalamic region, may have also disrupted the formation of connections between these thalamic structures, the limbic cortex and extended hippocampal formation [42,46,47].
It is also interesting that laser acupuncture in this study appeared to preferentially activate the limbic cortex ipsilaterally and deactivate the limbic cortex contralaterally.
