A life table calculates life expectancy using the formula [ 31]: Where: e x = life expectancy at age x T x = cumulative person years lived after age X l x = individuals alive at beginning of age x A difference in cumulative person years lived after age 25 between the intervention and comparator populations were used in the ICER analysis.
As Stirman et al. argue, 'While some [intervention] modifications might facilitate implementation and sustainability by improving the fit between the intervention and its target population or the context into which it is introduced, modifications may also erode treatment integrity'.
Given the clear and consistent difference in results between the intervention and the non-intervention populations, our findings suggest that the improved air quality in Launceston was associated with reductions in mortality.
Furthermore, this meta-analysis combines surgeries as diverse as cardiac surgery and colorectal surgery and does not explore the possible interactions between the intervention and these different populations.
