Importantly, a significant interaction between VSTM maintenance load and distractor congruency, F 1, 15) = 5.922, p =.027, η =.27, indicated a reduced distractor congruency effect with high, as compared with low, VSTM maintenance load (see Note 3).
This analysis indicated a higher connectivity between V1 and ACC as a result of the interaction between working memory load and distractor congruency.
The changes in connectivity between ACC and V1 based on working memory load and distractor congruency suggest an account for the congruency effects in V1 in terms of the monitoring feedback from ACC.
To test for congruency effects of anchor points from both dimensions, we ran a repeated-measures ANOVA on RT data with experiment group (1a/1b) as a between-subjects factor and congruency (congruent/incongruent) as a within-subject factor.
