The stacking fault width and nanoindentation hardness measured in the CAC simulations agrees well with existing experimental data.
The fault-fracture-zone width of 500 m is consistent with a scaling relationship between fault-process-zone width and fault length for strike-slip faults (Vermilye and Scholz, 1998), although no similar relationship has previously been reported for subduction zones.

This fault is described by a series of physical parameters, comprising dip angle, strike angle, rake angle, fault width, fault length, and fault depth.
The lengths and widths of the fault planes were derived from the empirical scaling relations for magnitude, slip amount, fault length and fault width (Utsu 2001).
The estimated source parameters are: seismic moment = 5.1 × 1019 Nm (Mw = 7.1), fault length = 40 km, and fault width = 15 km.
