As these scenes tend to already be in pretty good shape, the notes from the creator, Armando Iannucci, at this stage are normally pretty brief – "better", "shorter", "funnier" – that kind of thing.
My hunch is probably not (they rarely do; even Homeland series two paled), and that it would have been better shorter – as, say, a four-parter – with an end in sight from the off.
Yet if there was fault to be found it was in the faultlessness of some of the day looks, a sense that Mr. Costa was quite consciously aiming for a visual statement and, in the process, didn't see or refused to see that the hemlines of the dresses might have been better shorter.
