I reject your premise that what we are trying to do is going to be "better than awful, less than grand".
Your recent observations concerning Penn Station ("Better Than Awful, Less Than Grand," editorial, July 9) missed an opportunity to encourage the key players — Amtrak, New Jersey Transit and the Long Island Rail Road — to think on a grand scale when reconfiguring a space we all agree desperately needs a fresh start.
In the second there was an improvement, and we were a bit better than awful.
