Depression is more common in women, and has been associated with many risk factors, including other diseases, low social support, cognitive impairment, disability, prior depression and bereavement [ 20, 29- 31, 49, 50].

A between-subjects design was used to examine the effect of recent bereavement (<2 months) on neutrophil function in elders.
Similar results were observed when stratifying the results according to the time period of bereavement (12 7 months before pregnancy, 6 0 months before pregnancy, and during pregnancy) (Figure 1).
Exposed children were further categorized into sub-groups by timing of bereavement: 12 to 7 months before pregnancy, 6 to 0 months before pregnancy, and during pregnancy.
