Skinfolds were measured in triplicate using Holtain calipers (average: subscapular, ∼20 mm below the tip of the scapula; triceps, halfway between the acromion process and the olecranon process).
The sites used were the acromion process, olecranon process, coracoid process, 5 cm below the sternoclavicular joint, anterior superior iliac spine, 5 cm above the patella, popliteal crease, and the distal musculotendinous junction of gastrocnemius.
The clavicle articulates with the acromion process of the scapula.
Superiorly it extended over the shoulder to the spine of the scapula and from the acromion process to the trachea, and from the axilla to the sternum, and as low as the breast, carrying that gland down before it.
After reduction in the acromioclavicular joint, the hook is placed under the acromion process posteriorly and the screws are used to fix the plate to lateral clavicle maintaining the reduction.
The acromion process intersects at approximately 90° to the scapular blade.
Although the anteroposterior extension of the acromion process cannot be determined for Leonerasaurus, it is likely that this process was relatively short as in non-eusauropod sauropodomorphs.
These include the 1) presence of a coracoid foramen, 2) bony ridges that connect the acromion process with the dorsal process, glenoid, and coracoid, 3) a short acromion process, 4) cervical ribs, and 5) elongate first thoracic ribs.
Secondly, osteotomy of the acromion process at its junction with the spine of the scapula was performed.
A potentiometer attached using strong thread to the acromion process allowed measurement of the amount of protraction.
